Goal

Obstacles are things a person see when he takes his eyes off his goal.[i]

Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.[ii] There is no use whatever trying to help people who do not help themselves. You cannot push anyone up a ladder unless he be willing to climb himself.[iii]

One essential to success is that your desire be an all obsessing one, your thoughts and aims be coordinated, and your energy be concentrated and applied without letup.[iv]

No one knows what he can do until he tries.[v] Men do not succeed in business or in life, no matter how intelligent they may be, no matter how sharply their aptitudes are defined, no matter how brilliantly they may be educated unless they are oriented toward the proper goals and have the drive or motivating force to succeed. One has to want something mighty hard and keep on wanting things all his life…[vi]

Goals. There's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. There's no telling what will happen when you act upon them.[vii]

People with goals succeed because they know where they are going... It's as simple as that.[viii] If I've got correct goals, and if I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything falls into line. If I do the right thing right, I'm going to succeed.[ix]

We do believe in setting goals. We live by goals. In athletics we always have a goal. When we go to school, we have the goal of graduation and degrees. Our total existence is goal-oriented. We must have goals to make progress, encouraged by keeping records… as the swimmer or the jumper or the runner does… Progress is easier when it is timed, checked, and measured. Goals are good. Laboring with a distant aim sets the mind in a higher key and puts us at our best. Goals should always be made to a point that will make us reach and strain.[x]

Setting goals for your game is an art. The trick is in setting them at the right level neither too low nor too high.[xi] The goal you set must be challenging. At the same time, it should be realistic and attainable, not impossible to reach. It should be challenging enough to make you stretch, but not so far that you break.[xii]

Be careful what you set your heart upon - for it will surely be yours.[xiii]

If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us.[xiv] What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.[xv]

An average person with average talent, ambition and education, can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society, if that person has clear, focused goals.[xvi]

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.[xvii] What this power is I cannot say; all I know is that it exists and it becomes available only when a man is in that state of mind in which he knows exactly what he wants and is fully determined not to quit until he finds it.[xviii] From a certain point onward there is no longer any turning back. That is the point that must be reached.[xix]

You gotta be hungry![xx] It sometimes seems that intense desire creates not only its own opportunities, but its own talents.[xxi] Desire creates the power.[xxii] When your desires are strong enough you will appear to possess superhuman powers to achieve.[xxiii] The first principle of success is desire - knowing what you want. Desire is the planting of your seed.[xxiv] You can really have everything you want, if you go after it, but you will have to want it. The desire for success must be so strong within you that it is the very breath of your life -- your first though when you awaken in the morning, your last thought when you go to bed at night.[xxv]

Difficulties increase the nearer we approach the goal.[xxvi]

Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever.[xxvii]

You can have anything you want if you want it desperately enough. You must want it with an exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world.[xxviii] The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.[xxix] Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.[xxx]

Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Establish your priorities and go to work.[xxxi]

Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.[xxxii]

It is a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.[xxxiii]

Desire is the key to motivation, but it's the determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.[xxxiv]

Many people realize their hearts' desires late in life. Continue learning, never stop striving and keep your curiosity sharp, and you will never become too old to appreciate life.[xxxv] It's not the having, it's the getting.[xxxvi] A person shows what he is by what he does with what he has.[xxxvii] Don't go into something to test the waters, go into things to make waves.[xxxviii] To desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve.[xxxix] The battle is all over except the "shouting" when one knows what is wanted and has made up his mind to get it, whatever the price may be.[xl] If you care enough for a result, you will most certainly attain it.[xli]

Desire! That's the one secret of every man's career. Not education. Not being born with hidden talents. Desire.[xlii] Image creates desire. You will want what you imagine.[xliii]

When you know what you want, and you want it badly enough, you'll find a way to get it.[xliv] High achievement always takes place in a framework of high expectation.[xlv] Wheresoever’s do you go, go with all your heart.[xlvi]

This is how humans are: we question all our beliefs, expect for ones we really believe, and those we never think to question.[xlvii]
