Resolve

We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.[i]

Our belief at the beginning of a doubtful undertaking is the one thing that assures the successful outcome of any venture.[ii] A belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses; it is an idea that possesses the mind.[iii] We are what we believe we are.[iv]

Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.[v] Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.[vi]

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.[vii] What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.[viii] If you don't have solid beliefs, you cannot build a stable life. Beliefs are like the foundation of a building, and they are the foundation to build your life upon.[ix] To believe a thing is impossible is to make it so.[x]

Believe Big. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success. Remember this, too! Big ideas and big plans are often easier -certainly no more difficult - than small ideas and small plans.[xi] Great things are accomplished by talented people who believe they will accomplish them.[xii] You do not have to be superhuman to do what you believe in.[xiii]

Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can. [xiv] It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. [xv] The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen. [xvi] You can change your beliefs so they empower your dreams and desires. Create a strong belief in yourself and what you want.[xvii]

When you believe a thing, believe in it all the way.[xviii] The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.[xix] We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal and then leap in the dark to our success. [xx] When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.[xxi] Always continue the climb. It is possible for you to do whatever you choose, if you first get to know who you are and are willing to work with a power that is greater than ourselves to do it.[xxii]

There is but one cause of human failure. And that is man's lack of faith in his true self. [xxiii]

On a long journey of human life, faith is the best of companions; it is the best refreshment on the journey; and it is the greatest property.[xxiv]  If you think you can win, you can. Faith is necessary to victory.[xxv] Faith in oneself... is the best and safest course.[xxvi]

The guy who takes a chance, who walks the line between the known and unknown, who is unafraid of failure, will succeed.[xxvii]

Nothing great has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe something inside them was superior to circumstances.[xxviii]

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.[xxix]

You can do what you want to do. You can be what you want to be.[xxx] Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.[xxxi] Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.[xxxii] Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it piece by piece-by thought, choice, courage and determination.[xxxiii] Character develops itself in the stream of life.[xxxiv]

Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.[xxxv] No change of circumstances can repair a defect of character.[xxxvi] You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.[xxxvii]

Don't accept that others know you better than yourself.  Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results.[xxxviii] I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence but it comes from within. It is there all the time.[xxxix]

How can we expect a harvest of thought who have not had a seedtime of character?[xl] If one advances confidently in the direction of one's dreams, and endeavors to live the life which one has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.[xli] A thing long expected takes the form of the unexpected when at last it comes.[xlii] Life is largely a matter of expectation.[xliii] Our circumstances answer to our expectations and the demand of our natures.[xliv] High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.[xlv] High expectations are the key to everything.[xlvi]

You will never be happier than you expect. To change your happiness, change your expectation.[xlvii] Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.[xlviii] If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.[xlix] If you paint in your mind a picture of bright and happy expectations, you put yourself into a condition conducive to your goal.[l]

Whatever we expect with confidence becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy.[li]

The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.[lii]

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.[liii] It’s not what happens to you that determine how far you will go in life; it is how you handle what happens to you.[liv] Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you thing about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are.[lv]

You cannot tailor make the situations in life, but you can tailor make the attitudes to fit those situations before they arise.[lvi]

When you cannot make up your mind which of two evenly balanced courses of action you should take – choose the bolder.[lvii] One of our greatest gifts is out intuition. It is a sixth sense we all have – we just need to learn to tap into and trust it.[lviii]

I found every single successful person I've ever spoken to had a turning point. The turning point was when they made a clear, specific unequivocal decision that they were not going to live like this anymore; they were going to achieve success. Some people make that decision at 15 and some people make it at 50, and most people never make it all.[lix]
