Explore. Dream. Discover.

Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.[i]

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.[ii] Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success.[iii] If you put a small value on yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price.[iv] Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined.[v]

I have little patience with scientists who take a board of wood, look for its thinnest part, and drill a great number of holes where drilling is easy.[vi] Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.[vii] Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.[viii] Accept challenges, so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory.[ix] Adventure is worthwhile.[x]

Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.[xi] Never leave that 'till tomorrow which you can do today.[xii]

Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict.[xiii] The strongest oak tree of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It’s the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun.[xiv] Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.[xv] Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice.[xvi] I would rather fail in a cause that will ultimately triumph than to triumph in a cause that will ultimately fail.[xvii] The ultimate measure of a person is not where they stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where the stand in times of challenge and controversy.[xviii] Only those who do nothing make no mistakes.[xix] The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.[xx] Never be afraid to do something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the titanic.[xxi] There are no great people in this world, only great challenges which ordinary people rise to meet.[xxii]

You're alive. Do something. The directive in life, the moral imperative was so uncomplicated. It could be expressed in single words, not complete sentences. It sounded like this: Look. Listen. Choose. Act.[xxiii]

Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision.[xxiv]

The freedom to be your best means nothing unless you are willing to do your best.[xxv] There's no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love. There is only a scarcity of resolve to make it happen.[xxvi] When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.[xxvii]

The successful person has the habit of doing the things failures don't like to do. They don't like doing them either necessarily. But their disliking is subordinated to the strength of their purpose.[xxviii]

The shortest way to do many things is to do only one thing at a time.[xxix]

Losers make promises they often break. Winners make commitments they always keep.[xxx]

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.[xxxi] To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.[xxxii]

I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen.[xxxiii] Do not quit! Hundreds of times I have watched people throw in the towel at the one-yard line while someone else comes along and makes a fortune by just going that extra yard.[xxxiv] Whatever you do, do with all your might.[xxxv] Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way.[xxxvi]

You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.[xxxvii] Most of us serve our ideals by fits and starts. The person who makes a success of living is one who sees his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly.[xxxviii] It's amazing what ordinary people can do if they set out without preconceived notions.[xxxix]

Determine what specific goal you want to achieve. Then dedicate yourself to its attainment with unswerving singleness of purpose, the trenchant zeal of a crusader.[xl] Confidence is the result of hours and days and weeks and years of constant work and dedication.[xli]

We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.[xlii]

Almost everything you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it.[xliii] If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.[xliv] The only way to find the limits of the possible is by going beyond them to the impossible.[xlv]

It's not so important who starts the game but who finishes it.[xlvi] Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all.[xlvii]

If you believe a thing impossible, your despondency will make it so; but if you preserve, you will overcome every difficulty.[xlviii]

Those who can bear all can dare all.[xlix]

Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before.[l] Consider the postage stamp; its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing until it gets there.[li]

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan, 'press on' has solved, and always will solve, the problems of the human race.[lii]

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.[liii]

I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.[liv] Success seems to be connected with action. Successful men keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit.[lv]

If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying. "Here comes number seventy-one!"[lvi]

Perseverance

Few things are impossible to diligence and skill ... Great works are performed, not by strength, but perseverance.[i]

No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings.[ii] A man can succeed at almost anything for which he has unlimited enthusiasm.[iii] Enthusiasm releases the drive to carry you over obstacles and adds significance to all you do.[iv] Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes shine to the stars. Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eyes, the swing in your gait. The grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of will and energy to execute your ideas.[v] The condition of the most passionate enthusiast is to be preferred over the individual who, because of the fear of making a mistake, won't in the end affirm or deny anything.[vi] Enthusiasm is a vital element toward the individual success of every man or woman.[vii] I found that the men and women who got to the top were those who did the jobs they had in hand, with everything they had of energy and enthusiasm and hard work.[viii] Life's blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm.[ix]

Get excited and enthusiastic about you own dream. This excitement is like a forest fire - you can smell it, taste it, and see it from a mile away.[x] Dreams get you into the future and add excitement to the present.[xi] Think excitement, talk excitement, act out excitement, and you are bound to become an excited person. Life will take on a new zest, deeper interest and greater meaning. You can think, talk and act yourself into dullness or into monotony or into unhappiness. By the same process, you can build up inspiration, excitement and surging depth of joy.[xii]

How long should you try? Until...[xiii]

Mediocre idea that generates enthusiasm will go further than a great idea that inspires no one.[xiv] You can give in to the failure message and be a bitter deadbeat of excuse. Or you can choose to be happy and positive and excited about life.[xv]

Do not be afraid of enthusiasm. You need it. You can do nothing effectively without it.[xvi]

The key that unlocks energy is desire, It’s also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create and drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited.[xvii]

A man can succeed at almost anything for which he has unlimited enthusiasm.[xviii] One man has enthusiasm for 30 minutes, another for 30 days, but it is man who has it for 30 years who makes a success of his life.[xix]

It is always with excitement that I wake up in the morning wondering what my intuition will toss up to me, like gifts from the sea. I work with it and relay on it. It’s my partner.[xx]

I feel sorry for the person who can't get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile.[xxi]

Lots of people limit their possibilities by giving up easily. Never tell yourself this is too much for me. It's no use. I can't go on. If you do you're licked, and by your own thinking too. Keep believing and keep on keeping on.[xxii] The most essential factor is persistence -- the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come.[xxiii] By persisting in your path, though you forfeit the little, you gain the great.[xxiv]

I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.[xxv]

If you should put even a little on a little and should do this often, soon this would become big.[xxvi]
Life is to be lived. If you have to support yourself, you had bloody well better find some way that is going to be interesting.[xxvii]

I have made it a rule of my life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy ... you can't build on it; it's only good for wallowing in.[xxviii] Do not say, 'It is morning,' and dismiss it with a name of yesterday. See it for the first time as a newborn child that has no name.[xxix] The more you recognize and express gratitude for the things you have, the more you will have to express gratitude for.[xxx]

I advise you to say your dream is possible and then overcome all inconveniences, ignore all the hassles and take a running leap through the hoop, even if it is in flames.[xxxi] Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.[xxxii] Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A word of optimism and hope. A "you can do it" when things are tough.[xxxiii] Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know it so it goes on flying anyway.[xxxiv] There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge.[xxxv]

A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.[xxxvi] It doesn't matter how many say it cannot be done or how many people have tried it before; it's important to realize that whatever you’re doing, it's you first attempt at it.[xxxvii]

Diligence

The secret of success is constancy of purpose.[i]

Diligence is the mother of good luck.[ii] Everything yields to diligence.[iii] I never could have done what I have done without the habits of punctuality, order, and diligence, without the determination to concentrate myself on one subject at a time.[iv]

Patience and Diligence, like faith, remove mountains.[v] Diligence is a great teacher.[vi] Persevere in virtue and diligence.[vii]

One thing is sure. We have to do something. We have to do the best we know how at the moment...; If it doesn't turn out right, we can modify it as we go along.[viii] The search for the perfect venture can turn into procrastination. Your idea may or may not have merit. The key is to get started.[ix]

It doesn't matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matters most is getting off. You cannot make progress without making decisions.[x] Indecision is debilitating; it feeds upon itself; it is, one might almost say, habit-forming. Not only that, but it is contagious; it transmits itself to others.[xi]

When you have to make a choice and you don't make it, that itself is a choice.[xii]

If you decide not to decide, you have already decided.[xiii] Vacillating people seldom succeed. Successful men and women are very careful in reaching their decisions, and very persistent and determined in action thereafter.[xiv] There is no more miserable human being than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision.[xv]

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.[xvi] We can let circumstances rule us, or we can take charge and rule our lives from within.[xvii] Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.[xviii] We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.[xix]

He who fears being conquered is sure of defeat.[xx] The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing that you will make one.[xxi] Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might as well put that passing time to the best possible use.[xxii] I believe that anyone can conquer fear by doing the things he fears to do.[xxiii]

Always direct your thoughts to those truths that will give you confidence, hope, joy, love, thanksgiving, and turn away your mind from those that inspire you with fear, sadness, depression.[xxiv]

Your success depends mainly upon what you think of yourself and whether you believe in yourself.[xxv]

Decision is the spark that ignites action. Until a decision is made, nothing happens.... Decision is the courageous facing of issues, knowing that if they are not faced, problems will remain forever unanswered.[xxvi]

If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started.[xxvii] Confidence awakens confidence.[xxviii] The confidence which we have in ourselves gives birth too much of that which we have in others.[xxix]

Confidence imparts a wonderful inspiration to its possessor.[xxx]

Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.[xxxi] Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings.[xxxii] Experience tells you what to do; confidence allows you to do it.[xxxiii] If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.[xxxiv]

The truth is that many people set rules to keep from making decisions.[xxxv] In a moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing to do. The worst thing you can do is nothing.[xxxvi] My basic principle is that you don't make decisions because they are cheap; you make them because they're right.[xxxvii] When you cannot make up your mind which of two evenly balanced courses of action you should take - choose the bolder.[xxxviii]

Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.[xxxix]

It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.[xl] Please all, and you will please none.[xli]

Each indecision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting over lost days ... What you can do or think you can do, begin it. For boldness has magic, power, and genius in it.[xlii] When making a decision of minor importance, I have always found it advantageous to consider all the pros and cons. In vital matters, however, such as the choice of a mate or a profession, the decision should come from the unconscious, from somewhere within ourselves. In the important decisions of personal life, we should be governed, I think, by the deep inner needs of our nature.[xliii]

The world cares very little about what a man or woman knows; it is what a man or woman is able to do that counts.[xliv]

We can do anything we want as long as we stick to it long enough.[xlv]

Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide.[xlvi] Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.[xlvii]

We choose to go…not because (it is) easy, but because (it is) hard, because that goal will serve to measure and organize the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.[xlviii]

A man of sense is never discouraged by difficulties; he redoubles his industry and his diligence, he perseveres, and infallibly prevails at last.[xlix] Few things are impossible to diligence and skill.[l] What we hope ever to do with ease, we must learn first to do with diligence.[li]

Decay is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence.[lii] Nothing is so difficult that diligence cannot master it.[liii] There is nothing which persevering effort and unceasing and diligent care can not accomplish.[liv]

The expectations of life depend upon diligence; the mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen his tools.[lv] Every noble work is at first impossible.[lvi] A great fortune depends on luck, a small one on diligence.[lvii] He who labors diligently need never despair; for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.[lviii]

That which ordinary men are fit for, I am qualified in and the best of me is diligence.[lix] When I was young I observed that nine out of every ten things I did were failures, so I did ten times more work.[lx]

What is more Paradise than a single, clear obstacle worth overcoming?[lxi]

Action

The secret of getting things done is to act![i]

Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.[ii] What may be done at any time will be done at no time.[iii] All the so-called "secrets of success" will not work unless you do.[iv]

Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.[v] The real contest is always between what you've done and what you're capable of doing. You measure yourself against yourself and nobody else.[vi] Natural ability without education has more often raised a man to glory and virtue than education without natural ability.[vii] Natural abilities are like natural plants; they need pruning by study.[viii] We all have ability. The difference is how we use it.[ix]  There is something that is much more scarce, something rarer than ability. It is the ability to recognize ability.[x]

You are the only person on earth who can use your ability.[xi] Ability will never catch up with the demand for it.[xii] Our work is the presentation of our capabilities.[xiii]

Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.[xiv] As simple as it sounds, we all must try to be the best person we can: by making the best choices, by making the most of the talents we’ve been given.[xv] The more we do, the more we can do; the more busy we are, the more leisure we have.[xvi] When a man has put limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do.[xvii] There is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do.[xviii]

It is surprising what a man can do when he has to, and how little most men will do when they don't have to.[xix]

Just do what you do best.[xx] Just Do It.[xxi]

What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.[xxii]

Jump into the middle of things, get your hands dirty, fall flat on your face, and then reach for the stars.[xxiii]

The superior man acts before he speaks, and afterwards speaks according to his action.[xxiv] People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.[xxv] Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one's thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world.[xxvi]

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.[xxvii]

The reason why so little is done is generally because so little is attempted.[xxviii]

Begin today! No matter how feeble the light let it shine as best it may. The world may need just that quality of light which you have.[xxix]

I think there is something, more important than believing: Action! The world is full of dreamers, there aren't enough who will move ahead and begin to take concrete steps to actualize their vision. [xxx]

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.[xxxi] Take action every day - some small dose at a time.[xxxii] Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.[xxxiii] The best way you can predict your future is to create it.[xxxiv]

Go for it now. The future is promised to no one.[xxxv] Action is the foundational key to all success.[xxxvi]

Plan

A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.[i]

There is nothing that cannot be achieved by firm imagination.[ii] If you have a dream, give it a chance to happen.[iii] There is no such thing as no chance.[iv] A wise man turns chance into good fortune.[v] Nothing important was ever achieved without someone taking a chance.[vi] All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.[vii] If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.[viii]

Developing the plan is actually laying out the sequence of events that have to occur for you to achieve your goal.[ix] Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.[x] Reduce your plan to writing. The moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire.[xi]

Do you want to be safe and good, or do you want to take a chance and be great?[xii] Few people have any next; they live from hand to mouth without a plan, and are always at the end of their line.[xiii] Thoroughness characterizes all successful men. Genius is the art of taking infinite pains. All great achievement has been characterized by extreme care, infinite painstaking, even to the minutest detail.[xiv] In the long run, men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, though they should fail immediately, they had better aim at something high.[xv] It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.[xvi] You can never plan the future by the past.[xvii]

Always plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.[xviii] By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.[xix]

Before beginning, plan carefully.[xx] Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.[xxi] The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.[xxii] A good plan is like a road map: it shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there.[xxiii] The wise man bridges the gap by laying out the path by means of which he can get from where he is to where he wants to go.[xxiv] Somewhere there is a map of how it can be done.[xxv]

The best we can do is size up the chances, calculate the risks involved, estimate our ability to deal with them, and then make our plans with confidence.[xxvi] Always have a plan, and believe in it. Nothing happens by accident.[xxvii]

There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.[xxviii] Plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan.[xxix] If you have accomplished all that you have planned for yourself, you have not planned enough.[xxx]

He who chooses the beginning of a road chooses the place its leads to. It is the means that determine the end.[xxxi]

You are the person who has to decide. Whether you'll do it or toss it aside; You are the person who makes up your mind. Whether you'll lead or will linger behind. Whether you'll try for the goal that's afar. Or just be contented to stay where you are.[xxxii] Man’s power of choice enables him to think like an angel or a devil, a king or a slave. Whatever he chooses, mind will create and manifest.[xxxiii] Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.[xxxiv]

I believe that we are solely responsible for our choices, and we have to accept the consequences of every deed, word, and thought throughout our lifetime.[xxxv] It's choice - not chance - that determines your destiny.[xxxvi]

Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.[xxxvii] How you choose to respond each moment to the movie of life determines how you see the next frame, and the next, and eventually how you feel when the movie ends.[xxxviii]

Look for your choices, pick the best one, then go with it.[xxxix] Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.[xl] It is always your next move.[xli]

It's not a matter of can or cannot, it's a matter of will or will not, everything is a choice, choose wisely.[xlii] If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.[xliii]

Knowledge

An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't.[i]

Common sense is the key to an infinite storehouse of knowledge.[ii] Believing you know it all, will guarantee you learn nothing - and achieve even less.[iii] Be curious always! For knowledge will not acquire you: you must acquire it.[iv] All men by nature desire knowledge.[v] Knowledge is only potential power.[vi] An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.[vii] Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.[viii] A man of knowledge lives by acting, not by thinking about acting.[ix] It's not knowing what to do, it's doing what you know.[x]

There are three ingredients in the good life: learning, earning and yearning.[xi]

Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten.[xii] Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.[xiii] Education comes from within; you get it by struggle and effort and thought.[xiv] The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life.[xv] The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.[xvi] The most valuable of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it has to be done, whether you like it or not.[xvii] It is only the ignorant who despise education.[xviii]

I think education is power. I think that being able to communicate with people is power. One of my main goals on the planet is to encourage people to empower themselves.[xix]

You can change your beliefs so they empower your dreams and desires. Create a strong belief in yourself and what you want.[xx] Don't let the negativity given to you by the world disempowering you. Instead, give to yourself that which empowers you.[xxi]

Man's flight through life is sustained by the power of his knowledge.[xxii]

If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can't, you're right.[xxiii]

Resolve

We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.[i]

Our belief at the beginning of a doubtful undertaking is the one thing that assures the successful outcome of any venture.[ii] A belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses; it is an idea that possesses the mind.[iii] We are what we believe we are.[iv]

Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.[v] Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to solution.[vi]

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.[vii] What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.[viii] If you don't have solid beliefs, you cannot build a stable life. Beliefs are like the foundation of a building, and they are the foundation to build your life upon.[ix] To believe a thing is impossible is to make it so.[x]

Believe Big. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success. Remember this, too! Big ideas and big plans are often easier -certainly no more difficult - than small ideas and small plans.[xi] Great things are accomplished by talented people who believe they will accomplish them.[xii] You do not have to be superhuman to do what you believe in.[xiii]

Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can. [xiv] It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. [xv] The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen. [xvi] You can change your beliefs so they empower your dreams and desires. Create a strong belief in yourself and what you want.[xvii]

When you believe a thing, believe in it all the way.[xviii] The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.[xix] We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal and then leap in the dark to our success. [xx] When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.[xxi] Always continue the climb. It is possible for you to do whatever you choose, if you first get to know who you are and are willing to work with a power that is greater than ourselves to do it.[xxii]

There is but one cause of human failure. And that is man's lack of faith in his true self. [xxiii]

On a long journey of human life, faith is the best of companions; it is the best refreshment on the journey; and it is the greatest property.[xxiv]  If you think you can win, you can. Faith is necessary to victory.[xxv] Faith in oneself... is the best and safest course.[xxvi]

The guy who takes a chance, who walks the line between the known and unknown, who is unafraid of failure, will succeed.[xxvii]

Nothing great has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe something inside them was superior to circumstances.[xxviii]

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.[xxix]

You can do what you want to do. You can be what you want to be.[xxx] Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.[xxxi] Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.[xxxii] Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it piece by piece-by thought, choice, courage and determination.[xxxiii] Character develops itself in the stream of life.[xxxiv]

Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.[xxxv] No change of circumstances can repair a defect of character.[xxxvi] You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.[xxxvii]

Don't accept that others know you better than yourself.  Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results.[xxxviii] I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence but it comes from within. It is there all the time.[xxxix]

How can we expect a harvest of thought who have not had a seedtime of character?[xl] If one advances confidently in the direction of one's dreams, and endeavors to live the life which one has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.[xli] A thing long expected takes the form of the unexpected when at last it comes.[xlii] Life is largely a matter of expectation.[xliii] Our circumstances answer to our expectations and the demand of our natures.[xliv] High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.[xlv] High expectations are the key to everything.[xlvi]

You will never be happier than you expect. To change your happiness, change your expectation.[xlvii] Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.[xlviii] If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.[xlix] If you paint in your mind a picture of bright and happy expectations, you put yourself into a condition conducive to your goal.[l]

Whatever we expect with confidence becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy.[li]

The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.[lii]

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.[liii] It’s not what happens to you that determine how far you will go in life; it is how you handle what happens to you.[liv] Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you thing about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are.[lv]

You cannot tailor make the situations in life, but you can tailor make the attitudes to fit those situations before they arise.[lvi]

When you cannot make up your mind which of two evenly balanced courses of action you should take – choose the bolder.[lvii] One of our greatest gifts is out intuition. It is a sixth sense we all have – we just need to learn to tap into and trust it.[lviii]

I found every single successful person I've ever spoken to had a turning point. The turning point was when they made a clear, specific unequivocal decision that they were not going to live like this anymore; they were going to achieve success. Some people make that decision at 15 and some people make it at 50, and most people never make it all.[lix]
